My Music

All my life I have been surrounded by music, song and dance. My parents took me around folk festivals right from being a baby. Also when I grew up I was immersed in many types of Artforms that covered Music, Drama, Song, Dance and Art. I first played the Recorder, then Clarinet, then Flute and then I took up the Piano Accordion when I was twelve.

I was first taught the Piano Accordion by a great friend called Lynda Convery. After getting started with Lynda I then got my tuition from the Folkworks Youth Summer School. From this I met up with loads of great friends and then begun to form many musical partnerships, including AAAAG with David Wood, The Pack with eleven other great friends and 422, who are still together today. In 1999 422 Won the BBC Young Folk Award and ten years on, four albums later are going strong. Their latest album 422 'Go Forth' is due to be released in the Summer 2010.

A more recent musical adventure is The Hut People. This is a Multi-percussion & Accordion duo. Made up of Sam Pirt & Gary Hammond. The Hut People have just released an album called 'Home Is Where The Hut Is..' released on Fellside and are going down very well. The Piano Accordion took over my life, apart from education that is. After 20 years for working VERY hard I ended up with a BA DipSW in Social Work and winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award (which I won aged 19) I became a professional Musician and as well as recording many albums with my bands (422 & The Hut People) also do a lot of work around schools and have now gained a lot of experience in Special Needs.

 My Mediumship, Tarot & Reiki

My story starts a bit different from your regular Medium. I haven't seen ghosts from being little or had a near death experience. I have always felt there was a little more to life than met the eye though. Until about 3 years, not being a very academic person, I spent all my life dedicated to music and study, I didn't have time for much else! But that dedication got me to being a professional musician with a BA Hons in Social Work. I have always wanted to help people. But 3 years ago I also wanted some answers to something that I had often wondered about. Is there life after death?, what is this all about?. So I went on a Ghost Investigation to get some evidence and answers. At that investigation the medium said that I was quite sensitive and could probably be a medium. Mmm I thought, so what is a medium? What do they do? And so begun my journey.

I then came to a point where I realized I wanted to also learn a healing therapy and the therapy that seemed most cohesive with Mediumship for me at the time was Reiki. I am now a fully trained up Reiki Master and now able to offer Usui Reiki Courses and have already trained a number of students with much success as well as giving treatments.

My Mediumship begun to develop fast when I met a great Medium at a mind, body, spirit fair. I went on his development courses and from there he taught me precision and accuracy in the information I get with my readings. He also taught me about confidence in what I receive as well as the true healing power of Mediumship. Now I can say, from the heart, I trust my Guides 110% in what messages I am given. I simply give what I get. The messages flow and it feels one of the most natural things in the world. Alongside all of this I have set up a number of development circles to help my and others Mediumship and Tarot skills.

Meditation is also very close to my heart. This is something I do everyday. Meditation really really does bring great peace to your heart and life. I have learnt my meditation from a Kadampa Buddhist Retreat Centre that I attend on a weekly basis as well as attending various retreats and courses throughout the year. What this has done is really given me a solid base on which I sit my Mediumship & Reiki (treatment & training).

Since taking this path I have found out that my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Pirt was a Spiriualist Medium. And so it seems I was always destined to follow this path. I now combine my Mediumship, Tarot, Reiki and Music and it feels GREAT!
